Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire (February 27, 2010 (February 27, 2010) Toronto ON). Pointe Claire is an unassuming town situated on the West Island, which is part of Montreal's island. Many people unfamiliar with the word tend to think it's a separate island somewhere in the west of Montreal but in fact this part of West Island is home to everything from Lachine west to the City of Lachine west. Amanda Brugel grew up on this island, and it is commonly known as the place where she was born. However, she only stayed there for a short duration. Brugel became an aspiring young lady within Courtice Ontario just outside Oshawa. She aspired to be professional, however because of a huge increase in her height, she outgrew the dance partners she had. In an article from the Toronto Star she admitted In heels, I'm 6 feet one inch. As I grew older than my male companions, I quit. Dancers who have been in the past often switch to acting and in the case of Brugel it was the result of a recommendation by her teacher of drama. She was a teacher at the time who advised her to take on a part in the annual school production. After trying out the role, she was chosen as the main character for Anne of Green Gables. She was given a Fine Arts Talent Scholarship to attend York University's Theatre Program, where she graduated from the program in 2000, earning a degree of Bachelor's in Fine Arts. Through the years that followed, Brugel has been offered roles in over 60 shows on the big and small screens. She attracted the most media attention after she was offered the part as Rita in the award-winning television series The Handmaid's Tale (pictured below). Brugel was the character Rita in the Handmaid's Tale the series filming over 10 years ago.
